How to Plan a Pink Ribbon Event

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Do your part to spread awareness and raise money to find a cure with a fundraiser or pink ribbon event. Some great ideas for fundraising events are breast cancer walks, and of course, traditional dinner banquets. If you are planning a breast cancer awareness event, try to partner with companies who are doing their part to support breast cancer awareness as well. For your Breast Cancer Awareness Walk:

A breast cancer awareness walk is easy; just have your participants raise pledge support from their friends and family for every mile they walk. Maybe even have a prize for the participant who has the most sponsors.

It’s also nice to have a small gift to give to all of your participants. Some simple ideas that go along with the walk could be pink ribbon visors, pink ribbon shoe laces, or a water bottle. Give these gifts out at the beginning of the walk so that the participants can use them while they walk.

Another great idea for fundraising at a breast cancer awareness walk is to set up a booth and sell pink ribbon merchandise. You can sell pink ribbon baseball caps, breast cancer awareness rubber bracelets, or pink ribbon reusable bags at booths along the walk route. Make sure to set up a booth at the start and end where there will be family and friends cheering the participants on. All the profits made from the sale of pink ribbon products at a booth like this can be an additional donation to the breast cancer awareness organization you are supporting.

Plan a Dinner Banquet:

A great breast cancer awareness fundraiser is a traditional dinner banquet. You provide dinner and entertainment for all of your guests, and ask that all those who enjoy themselves please give a donation to the breast cancer awareness foundation of your choice. Your job as the dinner organizer would be to decorate the room with pink ribbon tableware. You can use pink ribbon tablecovers, centerpieces and confetti to remind your guests of the cause.
